Dan Wolter
Dan Wolter is a public affairs and strategic communications professional with more than 30 years of experience in business, government, and politics. A native of Iowa, he has served as a senior staffer for three different governors in two states, including Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty.
Currently, Dan is a multistate lobbyist for Iowa-based grocer Hy-Vee, Inc. and advocates for the entire retail sector as chair of the Minnesota Retailers board of directors. Previously, he managed public affairs in the Midwest for pharmaceutical company Pfizer, served as the University of Minnesota’s head of public relations, and spent time in Washington as speechwriter for the U.S. Secretary of Agriculture.
Dan currently serves on the city council in Lakeville, having been appointed to an open seat in 2023 and being elected in 2024, with the highest vote total in Lakeville City Council history. He previously represented northern Dakota County on the Metropolitan Council from 2005-2011 and currently serves on the board of the Minnesota Zoo.
He holds a bachelor’s degree from Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa, and a
master’s degree in strategic public relations from George Washington University in Washington, DC.
